Below is the full press statement issued by the management:
PRESS RELEASE
Attention of the Management of Dominion Broadcast Group (DBG), owners of Dominion 106.1 FM and Dominion Television, Channel 48 UHF, Ibadan, has been directed to recent public commentary regarding a Facebook series titled Becoming by Mrs. Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa.
We wish to clarify that Mrs. Giwa-Onafuwa was not dismissed as a result of the company’s recently concluded staff audit, staff performance appraisal and restructuring exercises. Instead, she was reassigned to a role that better aligns with her professional background as indicated in her CV, namely, Head of Content/Producer/Presenter & Digital Services (Radio/TV)
It is important to emphasize that her previous appointment as General Manager, Television, is not sustainable for the following reasons:
- Lack of relevant experience: Mrs. Giwa-Onafuwa has no previous experience or track record in TV roles and environment to indicate likelihood of success, which led to her hiring, in an unconventional manner, external person to execute core responsibilities, thereby exposing DBG operations to risk.
- Lack of technical expertise: She does not possess the specific technical or managerial skills required for the role.
- Absence of documented achievement: She has no documented evidence of past contributions or successful resolution of operational challenges relating to television.
In response to her reassignment, effective June 2, 2026, Mrs. Giwa-Onafuwa tendered her resignation effective June 4. However, by this action, she has failed to fulfill the agreement in her first employment letter that requires that, in case of resignation, she has to give a month notice to the company or pay to the company a one month equivalent of her salary in lieu of notice.
She has also failed to return certain company assets, including:
- The official vehicle assigned to her office
- Official laptop assigned to her office.
- Dominion TV’s YouTube channel (with over 3,000 subscribers and monetized content worth approximately $700)
- Dominion TV’s official Facebook page (with over 14,000 followers), which she has now unlawfully converted to her personal account “Ronke Giwa Media.” She has deleted the Dominion station’s content, retained only her personal uploads, and has been collecting revenue from the monetized account.
Such actions are inconsistent with professional standards, accountability and integrity as well as the DBG terms and conditions, which are clearly stated in her employment letter.
The Management of Dominion Broadcast Group assures the public that our operations remain unaffected, and we continue to deliver quality broadcasting services.
The management maintained that the clarification reflects the organisation’s official position on the matter and urged the public to rely only on verified communication channels for accurate information.
It added that despite the development, operations of the broadcast group remain stable and uninterrupted, with continued commitment to quality service delivery.
Signed:
Ọládòkun Festus Morákinyọ̀
General Manager, Finance and Admin
Dominion Broadcast Group.
