JUMAT MESSAGE: KUSO Calls for Special Prayers for Abducted Pupils, Teachers; Says Oyo Must Stand United Until Every Child Returns Home
Ibarapa East Local Government Chairmanship Aspirant, Hon. Abdul Akeem Akintola (Kuso), has called on Muslims across Oyo State and beyond to dedicate today’s Jumat prayers to the safe return of the pupils and teachers abducted by bandits in Ahoro-Esiẹ̀le, Oriire Local Government Area.
Kuso, in a message issued to commemorate Jumat, said while Muslims gather in worship, gratitude and supplication before Almighty Allah, the hearts of many families remain burdened by the painful absence of their children and loved ones.
According to him, the incident has left a deep scar on the conscience of Oyo State, as parents continue to endure sleepless nights, uncertain of the fate of their children.
“There are families whose lives have not remained the same since this unfortunate incident occurred. There are mothers whose tears have refused to dry. There are fathers whose hearts are weighed down by fear and uncertainty.”
“Today, I urge every Muslim faithful to remember these innocent children and their teachers in their prayers. Let us ask Allah, the Most Merciful, to shield them from harm and return them safely to their families.”
The chairmanship hopeful noted that the tragedy should unite the people rather than divide them.
He cautioned against the temptation to politicise the painful situation, stressing that moments of grief require compassion, understanding and collective action.
“When children are in captivity, politics must take a back seat. This is not a moment for accusations or partisan divisions. This is a moment to stand together as one people.”
“Our priority should be the safety of the victims and the comfort of their families. Every responsible citizen should support efforts aimed at securing their release.”
Kuso expressed confidence that the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde remains committed to ensuring the safe return of the victims.
He stated that available information indicates that security agencies and relevant authorities are working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring the situation to a successful conclusion.
“I have confidence that Governor Seyi Makinde and relevant security agencies are not resting on this matter. Efforts are ongoing, and as citizens, we must continue to support them with prayers and cooperation.”
“The governor has consistently demonstrated concern for the welfare and security of Oyo State residents, and I believe every lawful measure is being explored to secure the freedom of these innocent children and their teachers.”
Kuso further commended members of the Oyo State House of Assembly for their recent call on the Federal Government to accelerate actions capable of strengthening security across the country.
According to him, recent security challenges across various parts of Nigeria have reinforced the need for practical reforms that would empower states and local communities to respond more effectively to threats.
“The call for state police deserves serious attention. The security realities facing communities today require innovative and courageous solutions.”
“We must move beyond endless debates and begin implementing measures that can improve response time, intelligence gathering and local participation in securing our communities.”
He also advocated greater support for the Oyo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, and other legally recognised security outfits operating within the state.
“Amotekun personnel have shown courage and dedication in supporting security efforts across the South-West. They deserve more equipment, logistics, training and operational support.”
“Strengthening Amotekun and other affiliate security agencies will further complement the efforts of conventional security institutions and improve security outcomes across our communities.”
Kuso observed that insecurity affects every aspect of society, from education and agriculture to commerce and investment.
“No meaningful development can thrive where insecurity persists. Farmers need security. Traders need security. Students need security. Every citizen deserves to live without fear.”
He therefore appealed to religious leaders across all faiths to continue offering prayers for peace, security and the safe return of all victims of kidnapping and violence.
“As Muslims gather for today’s Jumat, let us pray not only for ourselves but also for those who are suffering. Let us remember the children who should be in classrooms. Let us remember the teachers who should be shaping lives. Let us remember their families who are longing for their return.”
Kuso concluded by expressing hope that the current painful chapter would soon give way to celebration.
“By the grace of Almighty Allah, these children shall return home. Their teachers shall regain their freedom. The tears of their families shall be replaced with joy, and Oyo State shall continue to overcome every challenge confronting it.”
“Let our prayers rise today. Let our hope remain alive. Let our unity remain strong. And may Allah bring our children and their teachers home safely and peacefully.”
