Oluyole 2027: Aspirants Make Sacrifice for Party Unity, Endorse Ara for Reps Race
The political atmosphere in Oluyole Federal Constituency came alive on Monday as aspirants under the Accord Party made a surprising move by stepping down from the race and throwing their full support behind Hon. Chief Ademola Oyepeju Ara ahead of the 2027 House of Representatives election.
The development took place at the Accord Party Secretariat located at Idi-Iroko Bus Stop along Olunde Road, Ibadan, where party members, leaders and supporters gathered for what later turned into a major show of unity and solidarity.
What initially appeared to be an ordinary political gathering soon transformed into a celebration as party faithful trooped to the venue in large numbers. The atmosphere became lively with music, drumming and excitement from supporters who described the development as a major step toward strengthening the party ahead of future elections.
The excitement heightened upon the arrival of Hon. Ademola Oyepeju Ara. Supporters welcomed him with songs, dance and loud cheers as drummers entertained the crowd. The event immediately took on a carnival-like atmosphere as party members joined in celebrating what many saw as a new chapter for Accord Party in Oluyole Constituency.
Addressing journalists at the event, Ara described the endorsement as a result of unity, understanding and a shared desire among party leaders to build a stronger political structure.
He explained that discussions among aspirants centered on the future of the party and the need to work together toward achieving electoral success and bringing development to the constituency.
Ara dismissed claims that any aspirant was pressured into stepping down, insisting that the decision was voluntary and reached after mutual understanding among party stakeholders.
He appreciated Hon. Oyeleke Ibrahim Agbolahan and Hon. Asimiyu Lamolo for their support and confidence in his aspiration, assuring them that their trust and sacrifice would not be taken for granted.
Although Hon. Asimiyu Lamolo was absent at the gathering, his message of support was conveyed through a voice recording affirming his loyalty and commitment to the project.
Also speaking at the event, Hon. Oyeleke Ibrahim Agbolahan expressed happiness over the unity among party members and stated that the decision to support Ara was taken in the overall interest of the party.
He explained that both he and Ara share similar political goals and expressed confidence in Ara’s capacity to lead and unite the party ahead of the 2027 contest.
Agbolahan also stressed that no aspirant was forced to withdraw, noting that the decision was based on the belief that collective interest should come before personal ambition.
Ward Five Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Pastor Agboola Kayode, commended the level of cooperation and understanding displayed by party members. He described the development as a sign of political maturity and praised Ara for his leadership qualities and relationship with party members.
He also offered prayers for the success of Accord Party in Oluyole Constituency, its governorship aspiration and Oyo State as a whole.
Political observers believe the development may further strengthen Accord Party’s position in Oluyole as early political alignments continue to emerge ahead of the 2027 elections.
For many party members present at the event, the gathering was more than a political endorsement. It was seen as a public demonstration of unity and a strong indication that Accord Party is determined to approach the next election season with a united front.
