2026: I’m Not Contesting for Money, I Want Development for My People — KUSO

A leading chairmanship aspirant for Ibarapa East Local Government in the 2026 local government election, Hon. Abdul Akeem Akintola, popularly known as KUSO, has declared that his ambition is driven by his passion for service and grassroots development rather than personal financial gain.

KUSO made the declaration in a statement released to journalists on Friday, where he reaffirmed his commitment to improving the lives of residents and bringing people-oriented governance closer to communities across Ibarapa East.

The grassroots politician, whose popularity continues to grow among youths, women, artisans and community stakeholders, said politics should never be reduced to a means of personal enrichment but should serve as a tool for transformation and societal development.

According to him, the people of Ibarapa East deserve leadership that understands their realities and possesses the determination to address challenges affecting ordinary citizens.

“I am not going into politics because of money. God has blessed me already. My mission is to serve my people and bring development to every part of Ibarapa East,” he stated.

KUSO further explained that his desire to contest stems from his long-standing passion for helping people and contributing meaningfully to society.

He noted that occupying the office of Chairman would provide him with a wider opportunity to extend his humanitarian efforts and positively impact more lives.

“God has blessed me already and I believe being Chairman of Ibarapa East Local Government will create a larger room for me to fulfill my intentions toward society. I want to give back more to my people and support those who genuinely need help,” he added.

The chairmanship hopeful maintained that governance should be measured by impact, accessibility and commitment to the welfare of citizens.

He assured residents that if given the mandate in 2026, his administration would focus on developmental policies and programmes that would directly improve the standard of living of people across the local government.

KUSO listed youth empowerment, support for local farmers, encouragement for small-scale businesses, improved community development and welfare support for less privileged residents among areas that would receive attention under his administration.

He stressed that his understanding of hardship and grassroots realities places him in a better position to lead with empathy and compassion.

According to him, his experiences in life have helped him understand where “the shoe pinches” among ordinary people.

Political observers believe the statement may further strengthen his growing support base as conversations around the 2026 local government election continue to gather momentum.

Many of his supporters have repeatedly described him as a philanthropist and grassroots mobilizer with a genuine concern for struggling families and vulnerable people within society.

With political activities gradually gaining attention across Ibarapa East, KUSO’s latest message appears aimed at reinforcing one central point: leadership, according to him, should be about service, development and improving lives not personal gain.
