Just In: EFCC Invites SUBEB Chairman Over Grants Management Investigation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has invited the Executive Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Ibukun Fadipe, for questioning over the management of Federal Government counterpart grants and the utilisation of intervention funds.

The invitation was conveyed in a letter dated May 19, 2026, signed by the EFCC Director of Investigation, Abdulkarim Chukkol.

According to the anti-graft agency, the investigation centres on the utilisation of counterpart grants and the execution of projects under the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) scheme in Osun State from 2024 to date.

The EFCC directed Fadipe to appear at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja on May 26, 2026.

Citing Section 38 (1) and (2) of the EFCC Establishment Act, 2004, the commission requested details on eight issues related to the grants and projects executed under the UBEC intervention programme.

Among the documents requested are evidence of counterpart funds submitted to UBEC for matching grants from 2024 to date, action plans and utilisation guidelines, as well as records of projects executed with the funds.

The commission also requested records of contracts awarded under the grants, including letters of award, contract agreements, payment details and bank information linked to the transactions.

Other documents sought by the EFCC include project status reports, payment vouchers, approvals and all records submitted to UBEC before the disbursement of funds.

The letter further instructed the SUBEB chairman to appear in person with the requested documents for an interview through the Head of the Procurement Fraud Section at the EFCC headquarters by 10:00 a.m. on the scheduled date.
