Oyo Police Begin Forensic Review of Viral Abduction Video, Intensify Rescue Operations
The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed that it has commenced a comprehensive forensic analysis of a viral video circulating on social media in connection with a recent abduction incident in the state. According to the Command, the footage is currently being subjected to detailed technical examination to verify its authenticity and extract useful intelligence that will support ongoing investigations.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Command explained that the forensic review forms part of broader efforts aimed at identifying, tracking, and apprehending those responsible for the kidnapping. The police noted that the analysis would also support coordinated rescue operations currently underway across affected areas.
Reassuring residents of the state, the Command emphasized its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safe rescue and return of all abducted victims to their families. It added that intensive operations—combining intelligence gathering, tactical response, and inter-agency collaboration—are ongoing to secure the victims unharmed and dismantle the criminal network behind the incident.
The police further urged members of the public to remain calm and law-abiding, while continuing to provide credible and timely information that could assist security agencies in their operations. Citizens were also advised to avoid sharing unverified reports or content capable of inciting panic or undermining the ongoing rescue efforts, warning that such misinformation could be exploited by criminal elements.
