APC Postpones House of Reps Primary Election to May 16
The All Progressives Congress has postponed its House of Representatives primary election to May 16, 2026.
The party announced the change in a statement issued on Thursday by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.
According to the revised timetable released by the APC, the House of Representatives primary, initially scheduled for an earlier date, will now hold on Saturday, May 16.
The party, however, retained the previously announced dates for other primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Under the updated schedule, the Senate primary election will hold on May 18, while the State House of Assembly primary is slated for May 20.
The APC also confirmed that its governorship primary election will take place on May 21, while the presidential primary is scheduled for May 23, 2026.
Meanwhile, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has endorsed the consensus option ahead of the party’s primaries.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the President described consensus candidacy as a commendable approach capable of reducing rancour and promoting unity within the party.
