NDLEA Arrests Three Persons With Disabilities in Separate Drug Operations

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says its operatives have arrested three persons with disabilities (PWDs) in separate anti-drug operations carried out in Anambra and Kwara states.

The agency also disclosed that more than two tonnes of “loud,” a potent strain of cannabis, were recovered during a raid on a mansion in the Lekki area of Lagos allegedly used as a storage facility for illicit drugs.

According to the NDLEA, one of the suspects, a 60-year-old man, was arrested in the Akpaka forest area of Onitsha, Anambra State, after operatives allegedly recovered 250 grammes of skunk packaged in retail sachets from him.

In another operation conducted in Ogbunike, also in Anambra, officers apprehended a 25-year-old suspect identified as Amos Kenneth. The agency said quantities of Tramadol, Diazepam, Exol 5, and skunk were recovered during the operation.

The NDLEA further stated that another suspect, Usman Salisu, was arrested in Kwara State after operatives intercepted a commercial vehicle and allegedly discovered 6.3 kilogrammes of skunk concealed in a school bag linked to him.

The anti-narcotics agency said its operatives later carried out a special raid on a mansion in Lekki on May 8, where they uncovered 4,000 parcels of loud weighing about 2,326 kilogrammes.

Chairman of the NDLEA, Brigadier General Buba Marwa (retd.), said the operations were part of the agency’s sustained efforts to curb the circulation of illicit substances across the country.

Marwa added that the agency had continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign through sensitisation programmes in schools, religious centres, workplaces, and local communities.

He commended officers involved in the operations across Anambra, Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa, and Lagos states, urging them to sustain the momentum in drug enforcement and public awareness campaigns.
