Ibarapa East 2026 leading Chairmanship aspirant, Hon. Abdul Akeem Akintola (popularly known as Kuso), has expressed profound sorrow and heartfelt condolences over the demise of the respected Bàbá Ashirudeen Gbadamosi Atanda (Olúwa-lan-be), a stalwart of Lanlate and the wider Ibarapa community.
Bàbá Atanda, whose remarkable life journey spanned decades of service, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy, was widely recognized as one of Ibarapa’s foremost petroleum marketers, distributors, and oil industry trailblazers.
His legacy in the local and regional petroleum sector remains unparalleled, having witnessed and adapted to pivotal industry shifts, including the historic removal of the petroleum subsidy.
Despite relocating and settling in Lanlate, Bàbá Atanda maintained deep connections with the community, earning admiration and respect from all walks of life.
His final days were marked by dignity and spiritual devotion; he humbly requested silence and cooperation from those around him during his last 24 hours, prioritizing the completion of four days of overdue prayers, which he observed with steadfast faith, moments before bidding farewell to the world.
Hon. Kuso expressed his heartfelt sympathies to Bàbá Atanda’s aged wives, extended family, and the entire Lanlate community, highlighting the void left by the passing of a man who lived and served his Creator with unwavering commitment.
“May Almighty Allah pardon his shortcomings, forgive his sins, and grant him eternal peace in Aljanah Firdaus. His contributions to Ibarapa and beyond will forever be remembered,” Hon. Kuso said in a statement released to the press.
The aspirant also commended the community for its support and resilience, noting that the legacy of Bàbá Atanda through philanthropy, entrepreneurship, and spiritual dedication serves as an enduring inspiration to the youth and future leaders of Ibarapa East.
As Lanlate mourns the loss of one of its most revered sons, the echoes of his life, generosity, and commitment to faith will continue to resonate, reminding all of the profound impact of a life well-lived.
