Oyo Workers Mark May Day in Grand Style at Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Ibadan
Workers in Oyo State joined millions around the world to commemorate International Workers’ Day, with the main celebration held in Ibadan.
The event, organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria, Oyo State Councils, brought together workers from various sectors at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex in a show of solidarity and unity.
This year’s theme, “Insecurity, Poverty – Bane of Decent Work,” framed the day’s activities as labour leaders and members reflected on the challenges affecting decent work conditions across the country.
The programme officially commenced with a march past by affiliated unions after the arrival of the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musbau Babatunde, who represented Governor Seyi Makinde.
Security personnel were deployed across the venue to ensure order and a smooth celebration throughout the event.
