‎Schools Resume for Third Term Academic Activities in Oyo State

‎Schools across Oyo State have resumed academic activities for the third term of the 2025/2026 academic session, with students returning to classrooms in both public and private schools.

‎A survey of several primary and secondary schools in Ibadan and other parts of the state showed that while teachers were present and prepared for lessons, many classrooms had only a few students in attendance on resumption day.

‎As a result, full academic activities could not properly commence in some schools due to the reduced number of learners present.

‎Some school administrators attributed the situation to parents delaying the return of their children after the Second-Term break and ongoing economic challenges affecting preparations for the new term.

‎Education authorities in the state, however, have urged parents and guardians to ensure their children return to school promptly, stressing that academic activities for the third term are expected to continue without further disruption.

‎As schools resume today, the Federal Government said it has introduced a National Textbook Ranking System for Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools to strengthen quality assurance and standardization in Nigeria’s education sector.

‎The initiative aims to address the proliferation of textbooks and ensure that only high-quality, curriculum-compliant materials are approved for classroom use.
