A massive crowd of supporters, party leaders, and key stakeholders on Sunday gathered in Ibadan to witness the formal declaration of Hon. Engr. Remi Oseni for the Oyo South Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The well attended event attracted participants from the nine local government areas that make up Oyo South Senatorial District, Ibadan North, Ibadan North West, Ibadan South West, Ibadan South East, Ibadan North East, Ido, Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa East, and Ibarapa North. Supporters, dressed in branded campaign vests and waving banners, filled the venue with chants and solidarity songs as the federal lawmaker unveiled his next political ambition.

Oseni, who currently represents Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said his decision to contest was inspired by purpose, sacrifice, and responsibility rather than personal gain.

“What started as a movement’s through God’s grace has today become a household name across the state. What once seemed ordinary has grown into an unstoppable force for justice, equity, and a better life for our people,” he said.

He explained that the gathering was convened to assess progress, strengthen unity within the fold ahead of 2027, and formally announce his senatorial ambition.

“As your leader and servant, it is my responsibility to share my next political direction so that together we can align our vision, strategy, and resources toward achieving it. I seek your prayers, support, and endorsement,” Oseni told the crowd.

The lawmaker stressed that his political journey has always been rooted in service.

“I have not come with entitlement or pride, but with purpose. Politics for me has never been about personal glory; it has always been about service and sacrifice. Leadership is not about position, but about responsibility,” he said.

“I have served well, and I am prepared to serve even more. My mission has always been to make life better and more meaningful for our people, and that will not change regardless of the office I occupy.”

Oseni highlighted some of his achievements in office, including road construction, school and hospital projects, scholarships, payment of school fees, and empowerment programmes for youths, women, traders, and artisans.

“I have not been a silent occupant of the National Assembly. I have actively sponsored motions and supported policies that benefit our people,” he added, citing initiatives on road maintenance funding and improved healthcare access for patients with critical illnesses.

He further disclosed that his political movement has established structures across all 33 local government areas of Oyo State, pledging that the network would strengthen the All Progressives Congress in future elections while creating greater opportunities for youths and women in politics.

“My ambition to become a senator is not a departure from service, but a continuation of it. The office may change, but my mission remains the same, to serve, to impact, and to leave a legacy,” Oseni stated.

He also reaffirmed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, saying his structure would mobilise through the Renewed Hope initiative.

“We remain committed to the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. Through our Renewed Hope structure, we are mobilising across Oyo State, and by the grace of God, we are confident of delivering over one million votes for the President,” he said.

Among dignitaries present at the event was Senator Sharafadeen Alli, the incumbent representing Oyo South Senatorial District. Alli urged party members and stakeholders to rally behind Oseni, describing him as a loyal party man with a strong grassroots connection.

“Oseni has demonstrated capacity and dedication in his current role. I encourage party faithful and the people of Oyo South to support him as he seeks to serve at a higher level,” Alli said.
