Oyo, Federal Government Review Final Consultant Report on Moniya Dry Port Project

‎The Oyo State Government has outlined plans to ensure that the proposed Moniya Inland Dry Port becomes a major driver of trade expansion and industrial development across the state and the Southwest region.

‎This was disclosed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, during a review and validation meeting with Federal Government representatives on the final consultant report for the dry port project held at the State Secretariat, Ibadan.

‎According to him, the state government is already taking key steps, including the rehabilitation of roads leading to the project site and the upgrade of Ladoke Akintola Airport to international standards, to support the successful takeoff of the facility.

The SSG explained that the project is expected to boost economic activities, create employment opportunities, strengthen small and medium-scale industrial clusters, and support large-scale industrial growth when completed.

‎He added that ongoing infrastructural developments, including the rehabilitation of access roads to the site and the upgrade of the Ladoke Akintola Airport to international standards, are part of efforts to ensure the project’s effectiveness.

‎In his remarks, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, said the Federal Government is working closely with the Oyo State Government to ensure proper implementation of the project, describing it as a key infrastructure priority.

‎Represented by the Director of Maritime Services in the Ministry, Mr. Adeola Oyinloye, he emphasized that collaboration between both levels of government is essential for the success of the project, noting that Oyo State remains a strategic stakeholder as host of the facility.

‎Reports indicate that the Ibadan Dry Port is designed to ease congestion at Lagos seaports and improve cargo movement across the Southwest by linking operations to Lagos through road and rail networks.

‎As the project progresses, stakeholders express optimism that it will significantly enhance logistics efficiency and boost regional economic integration.
