Kebbi Assembly Speaker, Muhammad Zuru Dies in Egypt
Muhammad Zuru, Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, has passed away.
His death was announced on Tuesday in a statement issued by Murtala Diri on behalf of the Assembly. Zuru died on Monday evening in Cairo, where he had been receiving medical treatment.
Popularly known as Lifiddan Zuru, the late lawmaker represented the Zuru constituency and was a respected figure within the Zuru Emirate.
Describing his passing as a major loss, the statement noted that his death affects not only his constituents but also the state legislature, the wider political community, and the nation at large.
Further details regarding burial arrangements are expected to be announced by his family and the Kebbi State Government.
In a separate statement, Kabir Tukura, who represents Zuru, Fakai, Sakaba, and Danko-Wasagu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, paid tribute to the late speaker. He described Zuru as “an epitome of kindness, generosity, and humility.”
Tukura added that Zuru’s death is not only a loss to his immediate family but also to the people of Kebbi State, particularly the Zuru community, whom he served with dedication and commitment.
He further condoled with the bereaved family and the people of the state, describing the late speaker as an “obedient son of his soil.”
