Fresh Drama: Stop Using My Children as Bait, Iyabo Ojo Threatens Legal Action Against Baba Ijesha
Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has cautioned convicted actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, against using her children to gain sympathy in public narratives. She warned that she would take legal action if he continues to mention them.
In an Instagram post on Sunday, Ojo addressed Baba Ijesha directly, stressing that her children were always under proper supervision either by nannies or her late mother and were never left unattended.
She also explained that her former business premises in Ilu-Peju, Lagos, had multiple staff members, including stylists, sales representatives, and apprentices. This, she noted, made it unlikely that she would personally run errands or leave her children in unsafe situations.
“I honestly have no problem with you telling your side of the story. But take this as a notice to cease and desist from using my children as your cheap bait. It won’t fly,” she wrote.
Ojo further stated that while Baba Ijesha was once a senior colleague, their relationship did not extend beyond that.
“That 14-year-old girl was a minor, and sexual assault is never okay. It is a crime. You should show some remorse. The court found you guilty based on evidence, so please don’t drag my kids into this,” she added.
Her warning follows a series of interviews in which Baba Ijesha claimed that Ojo had entrusted her children, Festus and Priscilla, to his care during their childhood.
He expressed disappointment over their strained relationship, stating that he never intended harm and felt hurt by Ojo’s public stance against him.
“When they told me about Iyabo Ojo, I said she is my product. I cannot wish her bad. I do not want women to have problems. But what she has become today, I do not understand,” he said.
Baba Ijesha also recounted an incident at Ojo’s shop in Ilu-Peju, where he claimed she left her children under his supervision while attending to errands. According to him, he later asked an apprentice to watch over them while he stepped out briefly.
Reaffirming her position, Ojo warned that she is prepared to take legal action if necessary.
“Stop mentioning their names, or I will direct my counsel to serve you appropriate legal papers,” she stated.
