‎Unions to Resume Monday as UCH Five-Day Warning Strike Ends Amid Unresolved Power Dispute

‎Activities at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, may resume on Monday as the five-day warning strike declared by workers over alleged internal electricity rationing ends today, amid lingering concerns over unresolved demands.

‎The industrial action was initiated by the Council of UCH Union Leaders (CUUL), a coalition of staff unions in the hospital, to protest what they described as deliberate power rationing that has severely disrupted healthcare services within the tertiary facility.

‎During the strike, several hospital services were affected, with many patients experiencing delays in surgeries, laboratory investigations, and other medical procedures.

‎Speaking on the development, the President of the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), UCH chapter, Dr. Uthman Adedeji, recounted the key demands of the unions and the reasons behind the industrial action.

‎According to him, the unions are demanding the immediate cessation of internal electricity rationing across critical service areas in the hospital, noting that the situation has negatively affected patient care and the overall operations of the institution.

‎The NARD president stressed that the warning strike was intended to draw the attention of the hospital management and relevant government authorities to the urgent need to address the situation before it worsens.
