‎Dangote Industries Raises Alarm Over Surge in Online Impersonation, Fraudulent Accounts

‎Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) has issued a strong public warning over what it describes as a growing wave of impersonation and fraudulent social media activities targeting unsuspecting members of the public.

‎In an official statement released by its management, the company said it has become aware of increasing cases where individuals falsely claim to represent the conglomerate, its leadership, and members of the Dangote family.

‎According to the statement, the impostors are using fake investment offers, business proposals, charity solicitations, employment promises, and other deceptive schemes to defraud victims.

‎The company categorically distanced itself from such activities, stressing that neither Dangote Industries Limited nor its Group President, Aliko Dangote, nor any executive including the Group Executive Director for Commercial Operations (Oil & Gas) solicits funds, investments, contracts, or personal information from individuals via social media platforms.

‎It further clarified that members of the Dangote family, including Fatima Aliko Dangote, Mariya Aliko Dangote, and Halima Aliko Dangote, do not engage in direct financial solicitations or personal business requests through platforms such as WhatsApp, X (formerly Twitter), TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, or any other social media channel. In fact, the company emphasized that they do not operate Facebook or TikTok accounts.

‎“Under no circumstances do the company’s executives initiate direct contact with private individuals through social media channels for financial transactions, business opportunities, or personal requests,” the statement said.

‎Dangote Industries urged the public to disregard unsolicited messages, calls, or social media accounts claiming affiliation with the company or its executives. It advised that all official communications are disseminated strictly through verified corporate channels and recognized media platforms.

‎Reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding its brand integrity and protecting Nigerians, the company disclosed that it is working closely with relevant security and law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute those behind the fraudulent activities.

‎Members of the public who receive suspicious communications are encouraged to report such incidents immediately to the appropriate authorities.

‎The statement was signed by the management of Dangote Industries Limited.
