Sowore Alleges Malami Sought His Help for Bail, Mocks El-Rufai Over Detention
Former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has alleged that former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, once reached out to him and his legal team for assistance in securing bail during his detention at the Kuje Correctional Centre.
Speaking in a recent video address to journalists, Sowore claimed that Malami, while in custody, “sent people” to approach him and his lawyers after realising they were among the most credible figures capable of facilitating his release.
Sowore also took a swipe at former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, amid reports that he allegedly suffered a nosebleed while in detention.
Questioning the circumstances surrounding the reported health concern, Sowore asked when exactly the alleged nosebleed began.
“I’m surprised that his nose is now bleeding at the ICPC. When did it start bleeding? Did it bleed when he was governor?” he queried.
He further suggested that El-Rufai may be attempting to attract public sympathy amid his ongoing legal troubles. According to Sowore, the former governor is being held by individuals within his own political circle, describing the situation as a familiar political strategy.
Sowore’s remarks come against the backdrop of growing public attention surrounding El-Rufai’s detention, with concerns being raised about his health and access to family members and legal representatives.
The claims have continued to stir debate as the political drama unfolds.
