Media Professionals, Policymakers Mark 2026 World Radio Day with Focus on AI
Media professionals, policymakers and broadcast stakeholders on Thursday marked the 2026 World Radio Day with a high-level dialogue examining the future of radio in the age of artificial intelligence.
The event, organised by a Founding Member of Society of Nigeria Broadcasters (SNB), Ambassador Dr. Yemi Farounbi in collaboration with the United Nations, in Ibadan, was held under the theme, Radio & Artificial Intelligence.
Delivering the keynote address, Ambassador Farounbi (OON), emphasized the need for responsible adoption of digital technologies to strengthen democratic processes and enhance public confidence in the media.
Panelists, including Chief Dr. Adebisi Adesola, former Secretary to the Oyo State Government; and Deacon Owolabi Oladejo, South West Zonal Chairman of the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON), examined how the industry can balance technological advancement with accountability.
The event concluded with participants reaffirming radio’s enduring relevance as a trusted platform for information and civic engagement.
