Money Rains, Banks Smile to Cash As APC Purchase of Interest, Nomination Forms Begin
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released an adjusted timetable for its 2026 nationwide congresses, national convention, and other related activities, setting the stage for the election of party officials across wards, local government areas, states, zones, and the national level.
The revised schedule, approved by the party’s leadership, outlines key dates, procedures, and costs associated with the congresses, reflecting APC’s preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the schedule, activities at the ward and local government area (LGA) levels will commence with membership e-registration, which is slated to begin on Saturday, 31 January 2026, and end on Sunday, 8 February 2026.
This will be followed by the purchase and submission of forms for ward and LGA congresses from Wednesday, 4 February, to Monday, 9 February 2026.
Screening of aspirants and resolution of appeals are expected to take place before the actual ward congresses on Wednesday, 18 February, and LGA congresses on Saturday, 21 February 2026.
The APC also outlined the cost of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for various party positions. At the ward level, Expression of Interest forms are priced at ₦5,000, while nomination forms range from ₦15,000 to ₦20,000 depending on the office.
For LGA positions, Expression of Interest forms cost ₦10,000, with nomination forms ranging between ₦50,000 and ₦100,000. State-level aspirants will pay ₦50,000 for Expression of Interest, while nomination fees vary up to ₦1,000,000 for state chairmanship positions.
At the zonal and national levels, Expression of Interest forms are pegged at ₦100,000, while nomination forms for key national offices attract significantly higher fees.
The APC fixed the nomination form for the position of National Chairman at ₦10 million, while other national offices are set at ₦5 million. The party also disclosed that NEC membership forms cost ₦250,000, while delegate forms range between ₦10,000 and ₦20,000 depending on the level.
The schedule further shows that state congresses will hold on Tuesday, 3 March 2026, after the screening and appeals processes.
Zonal congresses are scheduled for Wednesday, 25 March 2026, across the six geopolitical zones, with venues including Ibadan for the South West, Enugu for the South East, Rivers/Cross River for the South South, Kaduna for the North West, Gombe/Bauchi for the North East, and Nasarawa for the North Central.
The national convention, which marks the climax of the exercise, is scheduled to hold from Friday, 27 March, to Saturday, 28 March 2026.
Prior to this, the party will inaugurate various screening and appeal committees for zonal and national positions on Monday, 23 March 2026, followed by the screening of aspirants on Tuesday, 24 March 2026.
The APC also noted special considerations in the process, stating that female aspirants, youths, and physically challenged aspirants will pay for the Expression of Interest form and only 50 per cent of the prescribed nomination fees.
Interested aspirants are advised that the Expression of Interest and Nomination forms will be available for purchase and collection at the Directorate of Organisation, 2nd Floor, APC National Secretariat, No. 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja.
