New Oyo Environment Commissioner Vows to Cut Down Environmental Challenges, Says Ministry’s Axe Is Sharpened
The newly sworn-in Oyo State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ademola Aderinto, has declared his readiness to decisively tackle environmental challenges across the state, assuring residents that the ministry is fully prepared to enforce cleanliness and environmental standards.
Aderinto made this known shortly after his swearing-in ceremony by Governor Seyi Makinde at the Executive Chamber, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on Friday.
Describing environmental degradation, indiscriminate waste disposal, and poor sanitation practices as major concerns, the commissioner said his ministry’s “axe is now sharpened” to cut down all forms of environmental infractions.
He stressed that his administration would pursue an aggressive campaign against environmental abuse, while ensuring strict enforcement of existing laws and policies.
According to him, the ministry will intensify monitoring, sanitation exercises, public sensitisation, and strategic partnerships with relevant agencies and community stakeholders to promote a culture of cleanliness across urban and rural areas.
He added that environmental compliance would no longer be optional.
Aderinto, who previously served as Special Assistant on Environment, expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for the opportunity to serve at a higher capacity, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in him through dedicated service and visible results.
He further assured that his leadership would focus on sustainable environmental practices, efficient waste management systems, and community engagement, with the ultimate goal of creating a cleaner, healthier, and safer Oyo State for present and future generations.
