Oyo Police Commence Operation Velvet to Enhance Security of Lives, Property

‎The Oyo State Police Command will on Wednesday commence Operation Velvet, a strategic enforcement exercise aimed at enhancing the security of lives and property while promoting compliance with relevant road traffic regulations across the state.

‎The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, made this known in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan.

‎According to him, the operation will focus on ensuring that vehicles plying the roads are duly registered, possess complete and valid documentation, display their number plates as required and comply with established traffic rules and regulations for the safety of all road users.

‎Ahead of the commencement of the exercise, the Command advised members of the public whose vehicle number plates have been deliberately defaced, covered or otherwise obscured, as well as owners of unregistered vehicles or vehicles without the required documentation, to promptly regularise their status and ensure full compliance with the law.

‎The Command warned that any vehicle found to be in contravention of relevant laws and regulations would be impounded, while the owner or other responsible persons may be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
