Oyo Government announces tourism boom as daily visitors rise from 1,280 to over 18,000

‎The Oyo State Government has announced a significant increase in the number of tourists visiting the state, with daily tourist arrivals rising from about 1,280 to more than 18,000.

‎The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, disclosed this while speaking at a cultural event in Ibadan, where he highlighted the contributions of stakeholders to the growth of culture and tourism in the state.

‎Olatunbosun said stakeholders in the tourism sector had continued to support the government’s efforts to promote culture and tourism, adding that their contributions had also impacted positively on entertainment, employment and the hospitality sector.

‎The commissioner noted that the more than 18,000 tourists being recorded daily was only a starting point, as the government was working round the clock to create a more conducive environment for guests and residents and ensure that tourism continues to thrive.

‎He added that the increase in the number of tourists visiting the state demonstrated the growing relevance of the sector and the significant contribution of stakeholders to its development.
