OYRLEA Impounds Cows For Open Grazing, Probes Noise Pollution Complaint In Ibadan

The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing state laws after impounding two cows for open grazing and investigating a complaint over excessive noise pollution in Ibadan.

The interventions were carried out on Wednesday, August 6, 2026, following a distress call received by the Authority concerning open grazing along Kudeti Avenue, Agbarigo Junction.

OYRLEA said its enforcement team swiftly mobilised to the area, where two cows were found grazing openly on the road and obstructing traffic.

The cows were subsequently impounded in line with the provisions of the Oyo State Anti-Open Rearing and Grazing Law, 2019, an action the Authority said helped restore order and ensure the safety of road users.

Following the operation, the enforcement team proceeded to Morubo-Ope Community, Apete, Ibadan, to investigate a petition concerning alleged excessive noise pollution from a block moulding industry.

The inspection was conducted jointly with officials of the Pollution Monitoring and Control Department of the Oyo State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources.

According to OYRLEA, the assessment confirmed that the noise generated by the facility was excessive and constituted a nuisance to residents of the community.

Consequently, the owner of the facility was advised to either relocate the business to a more suitable location or install effective noise reduction measures to prevent further disturbance to residents.

OYRLEA reiterated its commitment to protecting public health, upholding environmental standards and enforcing the laws of Oyo State.

The Authority also urged residents to continue reporting traffic and environmental violations to enable prompt intervention by relevant authorities.
