Oyo CP Meets Stakeholders Across 11 Area Commands, Seeks Stronger Community Policing
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, CP Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, has engaged critical stakeholders across the state’s 11 Area Commands as part of efforts to strengthen the existing security architecture and enhance public safety.
The stakeholder engagements provided a platform for the police commissioner to assess the current security situation, listen to the concerns of residents and community leaders, evaluate ongoing policing strategies, and collectively develop practical measures aimed at improving security across Oyo State.
Speaking during the meetings, CP Olugbenga underscored the importance of community policing, describing it as a people centred approach to crime prevention that depends on mutual trust, partnership and active collaboration between the police and the public.
He explained the concept of community policing in simple terms, stressing that security is a shared responsibility and cannot be achieved by the police alone.
The police commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working closely with traditional rulers, community leaders, religious bodies, youth groups and other stakeholders to build a safer and more secure Oyo State.
