How to Apply for FG’s Loan Scheme for Laptops, Smartphones, Tablets
The Federal Government has commenced applications for its newly launched Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, designed to provide Nigerians with affordable, credit-based access to laptops, smartphones, tablets and other digital devices.
The initiative, implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, is aimed at expanding digital inclusion by enabling Nigerians to acquire essential digital devices through structured repayment plans rather than outright purchases. The programme will initially focus on locally assembled laptops as part of efforts to promote indigenous manufacturing.
How to Apply
Interested applicants can begin the application process by visiting the official C.L.I.C.K.D. portal at credicorp.ng/clickd and selecting the “I’m Interested” option to access the online application form.
Applicants will be required to provide their state of residence, employment status, monthly income (optional), preferred digital device and the purpose for which the device is needed. They will also indicate whether they belong to any recognised digital talent programme, including the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme, Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, ALX Africa, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa, Genesys Tech Hub or other approved programmes.
The application also requires applicants to state how they learned about the programme before confirming that the information supplied is accurate and consenting to the use of their details by CREDICORP and its partners for eligibility assessment. Applications can then be submitted online for consideration.
Who Is Eligible?
For the initial phase, the programme is limited to beneficiaries of the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme, under which the C.L.I.C.K.D. initiative is being piloted nationwide.
According to CREDICORP, the first phase will provide 1,000 locally assembled laptops to eligible participants. The rollout began in Abuja, where 77 beneficiaries have already received their devices, while the remaining beneficiaries across other states will receive theirs in phases.
Although the application portal also accommodates participants from other digital skills programmes such as ALX Africa, Andela Learning Community, HNG Internship, AltSchool Africa, Learn2Earn and Genesys Tech Hub, CREDICORP has yet to confirm when applicants from these programmes will begin receiving devices under the scheme.
The corporation has also not announced the applicable interest rates, repayment duration or down-payment requirements for the consumer credit facility. Further details are expected as the programme expands to more beneficiaries across the country.
