2026 Budget: Livestock Ministry Earmarks N140m for Rehabilitation of Emir Palaces, Mosques in Kaduna
The Federal Ministry of Livestock Development has earmarked N140 million in the 2026 Appropriation Act for the construction and rehabilitation of emir palaces and mosques in Kaduna State, despite the projects having no direct connection to livestock development.
According to the 2026 budget obtained by TheCable, the allocation is listed under the ministry’s headquarters capital projects and is designated for the construction and rehabilitation of emir palaces and mosque(s) in Birnin Gwari/Giwa Federal Constituency of Kaduna State.
The allocation is among several constituency projects captured in the ministry’s 2026 budget.
The ministry also proposed N2.1 billion for the construction of schools for students in rural farming communities across the South-West.
In addition, N700 million was allocated each for the construction of rural roads in farming communities in Anambra and Ogun states, while N595 million was budgeted for the purchase of grains for vulnerable communities across the South-East.
Other provisions in the budget include N490 million for rural farm roads in Imo State and N350 million for the supply of medical equipment to primary healthcare centres in Yala, Ogoja, Obudu, Bekwarra and Obanliku Local Government Areas of Cross River State.
The ministry also set aside N210 million for the construction of a multipurpose hall, sports and event centre in the Ifeanyi Ubah Senatorial District.
Another N210 million was allocated for the purchase and supply of hospital equipment to improve healthcare facilities in Oju/Obi Federal Constituency of Benue State.
Further allocations include N175 million for the purchase of medical equipment in Idanre Federal Constituency of Ondo State and N70 million for the renovation of nurses’ quarters in Ojobo Community, Burutu Federal Constituency of Delta State.
The budgetary provisions have drawn attention because several of the projects fall outside the core mandate of the Ministry of Livestock Development, raising fresh questions over the inclusion of constituency projects in federal ministry budgets.
