Police Dismiss Claims of Manipulation in PCRC Election Postponement

The Zone 13 Police Command has dismissed reports alleging that the postponement of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) elections was influenced by manipulation by the committee’s national leadership.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Chidera Oha, on behalf of the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 13, described the claims circulating on social media as “entirely false, unfounded and misleading.”

According to the command, the decision to postpone the elections was taken to accommodate other important zonal engagements and official activities, while ensuring that all relevant stakeholders have the opportunity to participate fully in the electoral process.

The police urged members of the public to disregard the reports, describing them as the handiwork of individuals seeking to misinform the public and create unnecessary panic and anxiety.

The command also advised the media, stakeholders and the general public to rely only on official information released through the Zonal Police Public Relations Office, warning against treating unverified reports as authentic.
