Federal Government Begins Nationwide Rollout of Digital Postcode for Every Nigerian Home
The Federal Government has commenced the nationwide rollout of the National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System, an initiative designed to assign a unique digital postcode to every residential address across Nigeria.
The development was announced on Friday by the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, in a post on his official social media account.
According to him, the implementation of the digital addressing system has already begun and is expected to enhance service delivery, improve emergency response and accelerate the country’s digital transformation.
“Every home in Nigeria will get a unique digital postcode as part of the ongoing National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System rollout. This process has already commenced,” Olusegun stated.
He explained that the new system would provide Nigeria with a smarter, more secure and digitally enabled addressing framework capable of supporting efficient governance and economic development.
“The implementation of this system ensures Nigeria has a smarter, more secure and digitally enabled addressing system that will improve service delivery, strengthen emergency response and unlock new opportunities across our economy,” he added.
Olusegun further said the initiative aligns with the administration of President Bola Tinubu’s broader economic reform agenda aimed at transforming the country’s economy.
He noted that the Tinubu administration remains committed to implementing reforms across key sectors to achieve its target of building a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
The National Digital Alphanumeric Postcode System is expected to provide every home and property in Nigeria with a unique digital address, making it easier for government agencies, emergency responders, logistics companies and other service providers to locate addresses accurately and efficiently.
