Hijrah 1448AH: Let Us Pray for Nigeria, Support Government Efforts on Security — Kuso
As Muslims across Nigeria and the world celebrate the beginning of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1448AH, Chairmanship Aspirant for Ibarapa East Local Government on the platform of the All Progressives Movement (APM), Hon. Abdul Akeem Akintola Kuso, has called on Nigerians to seize the occasion to pray for peace, security, prosperity and improved welfare for citizens.
Kuso, in a statement made available to journalists on Monday, said the new Islamic year presents an opportunity for spiritual renewal, self-examination and renewed commitment to the values of sacrifice, patience, honesty and service to humanity.
According to him, the lessons of the Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) remain a source of inspiration for people facing challenges and uncertainties.
“The Islamic New Year reminds us that difficult situations can be overcome through faith, perseverance and collective determination. It is a period for us to seek Allah’s guidance and pray for the peace and progress of our nation,” he said.
The APM chairmanship hopeful noted that many Nigerians continue to grapple with economic hardship and security concerns, stressing that citizens must unite in prayers and support efforts aimed at addressing the challenges.
He urged Muslims and other residents to remember the abducted children and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing their continued captivity as a matter of serious concern to every well-meaning citizen.
Kuso said the thoughts and prayers of the people of Ibarapa East are with the affected families, expressing hope that the victims would soon regain their freedom.
“These children and their teachers deserve to be back home with their loved ones. As we mark Hijrah 1448AH, I call on all faithful to offer special prayers for their safe return and for divine protection over all our communities.”
The politician commended Governor Seyi Makinde for the efforts of the Oyo State Government in collaboration with security agencies to rescue the victims.
He said available information indicates that the state government has remained actively engaged with relevant security authorities to ensure that the abducted children and teachers are safely reunited with their families.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has demonstrated commitment to the security and welfare of the people. We must continue to support ongoing rescue operations and avoid actions capable of undermining the efforts of security agencies.”
Kuso further urged community leaders, traditional rulers, religious institutions and youth groups to strengthen local vigilance and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in tackling insecurity.
The chairmanship aspirant used the occasion to unveil his vision for a more prosperous Ibarapa East, promising to pursue policies that would improve infrastructure, empower youths, support farmers, strengthen primary healthcare and promote economic opportunities at the grassroots.
He maintained that local government remains the closest tier of government to the people and should be used as a vehicle for meaningful development.
“As we prepare for the forthcoming local government election, I appeal to the good people of Ibarapa East to support our collective vision for progress and development. I also encourage voters to stand behind all candidates of the All Progressives Movement (APM), whose commitment is to deliver people-oriented leadership at the grassroots.”
Kuso added that the spirit of Hijrah should encourage Nigerians to move away from division, intolerance and despair towards unity, compassion and hope.
He prayed for Allah’s blessings upon Nigeria, Oyo State and Ibarapa East, asking for divine intervention in the country’s affairs and the safe release of all victims of kidnapping and criminality.
“May Allah grant peace to our land, comfort to distressed families, success to our leaders, freedom to the abducted children and teachers in Oriire, and greater prosperity to every Nigerian household. Ameen.”
