It reminds us that democracy thrives not just on elections, but on the delivery of security, justice, and prosperity for all citizens. Yet, as we mark another year, many Nigerians—especially residents of Oyo Central Senatorial District—continue to grapple with deep-seated challenges that test our collective faith in the system.
Persistent Insecurity and National Challenges
Nigeria faces a multidimensional security crisis that has spread across the regions. In the Northeast, groups like Boko Haram and ISWAP persist. Banditry and kidnappings terrorize the Northwest and North-Central areas. Farmer-herder conflicts rage in the Middle Belt, while separatist tensions and criminal activities affect other parts of the country. Even in the Southwest, including Oyo State, incidents such as school abductions have heightened fears among parents and communities.
Economic pressures compound these woes: high inflation, rising cost of living, unemployment, and slow growth leave families struggling.
