Transfer: Disregard Coach Chelle’s Comments About Me Leaving Galatasaray – Osimhen
Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has urged fans and the media to disregard speculation surrounding his future after comments by Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle sparked reports that he could be on the verge of leaving the Turkish champions this summer.
The speculation emerged after Chelle explained Osimhen’s absence from Nigeria’s upcoming international friendlies against Poland and Portugal.
The Malian tactician suggested that the striker was focused on resolving issues relating to a potential transfer, a statement that quickly fueled rumours about his next destination.
“We miss two players because Victor Osimhen may be about to change clubs,” Chelle had said while discussing the squad for the June friendlies.
However, Osimhen has since moved to clarify the situation, revealing that he spoke directly with the Super Eagles coach regarding the comments. In a statement posted on his Instagram Story, the former Napoli forward said Chelle’s remarks had been taken out of context and exaggerated.
“I just got off the phone with Coach Eric Chelle regarding the comments about me in his recent interview. Unfortunately, his words have been taken out of context and blown out of proportion. He has great respect for Galatasaray, follows most of our games, and never intended to create any controversy.
I appreciate the conversation, the opportunity to always represent my country, and I look forward to continuing to work with him. He is a great coach whom I respect a lot, and I kindly ask everyone to disregard the speculation surrounding this matter,” Osimhen stated.
