Jimoh Ora’nkan Emerges Winner of ACCORD Senatorial Primary in Oyo Central
Ambassador Shakirullah Jimoh Ora’nkan has emerged as the winner of the ACCORD primary election for the Oyo Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ora’nkan was declared elected and returned as the party’s flag bearer following the announcement of the primary election results by the Returning Officer for the gubernatorial, House of Assembly, House of Representatives, and senatorial primaries, Hon. Abdurahman Danladi Muhammad.
Muhammad led the three member ACCORD National Working Committee delegation responsible for overseeing the primary elections in Oyo State.
The declaration was made in the presence of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security personnel, party delegates, leaders, and stakeholders at Islamic Primary School, Moniya, Ibadan.
Announcing the results, Muhammad said Ora’nkan secured a total of 73,891 votes from delegates across the 11 local government areas of Oyo Central Senatorial District.
He also confirmed that Ora’nkan was duly screened and cleared by the party to contest the primary election.
“I can assure you that Ambassador Ora’nkan was cleared by the screening committee in Abuja. I am the secretary of the committee. There was no other candidate for the Oyo Central Senatorial District except Ambassador Ora’nkan,” Muhammad stated.
He commended ACCORD delegates for their resilience, confidence, and trust in Ora’nkan, adding that a Certificate of Return would be presented to him in Abuja.
Speaking shortly after being declared winner, Ora’nkan described the victory as the beginning of a new chapter aimed at repositioning the constituency for sustainable development and progress.
“I sincerely appreciate the collective mandate given to me as your trusted representative. Together, we shall change the narrative of poor infrastructure, inadequate welfare, and unfulfilled promises,” he said.
Ora’nkan noted that his legislative agenda would focus on addressing the needs and aspirations of the people of Oyo Central.
“My words are my bond. I will not make promises I cannot fulfil. I believe in action driven leadership that delivers progress and development rather than mere rhetoric,” he added.
He appealed to delegates, party leaders, members of the Ora’nkan Support Group, and other supporters of the ACCORD party to intensify mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
