Oyo Pilgrim Praised for Returning $1,200 Found in Mina Toilet

A pilgrim from Oyo State has been widely commended for his honesty after returning $1,200 he found in a toilet in Mina on Sunday, May 25, 2026.

The pilgrim, Alhaji Aderemi Liadi Yusuf of Ona Ara Local Government Area, reportedly discovered the money, which belonged to an elderly pilgrim, and immediately handed it over to the appropriate authorities. The amount is estimated at about ₦1.7 million at the current exchange rate.

Officials described the gesture as a remarkable display of integrity, honesty, and fear of Allah, noting that it reflects the moral and spiritual guidance given to Oyo pilgrims before and during the Hajj pilgrimage.

“This noble act demonstrates that the teachings on trustworthiness and good character are yielding positive results among our pilgrims,” an official stated. “It is a moment of pride not only for Oyo State but for Nigerian pilgrims as a whole.”

The Oyo State Pilgrims Welfare Board also praised Alhaji Aderemi’s exemplary conduct, describing him as a worthy role model for others undertaking the sacred journey.

Officials further prayed that Allah rewards him abundantly, accepts his Hajj, and continues to increase him in goodness and blessings.
