Oyo Government Orders Closure of Schools In Surulere, Oyo East, Oriire & Olorunsogo After Recording Deadly Attack on Teachers, School Children Kidnapping 

 

Security agencies have deployed special tactical assets in response to the abduction of pupils following a violent attack on schools in Ahoro Esinele community, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, an incident that has led to the reported killing of a teacher and the kidnapping of schoolchildren.

The development is being described as one of the most serious attacks on school facilities in the state in recent times, prompting urgent security intervention and precautionary measures by education authorities.

The Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board (OYOSUBEB) confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its Executive Chairman, Dr. Nureni Aderemi Adeniran, expressing deep sadness over the attack and extending condolences to the bereaved family of the slain teacher as well as affected parents and communities.

According to the Board, the exact number of abducted pupils is still being verified as security operatives continue search and rescue operations across surrounding forests and routes linked to the community.

Dr. Adeniran assured that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, is fully mobilised to ensure the safe return of the abducted pupils. He noted that a special tactical response team has been deployed and intelligence led operations are ongoing under the coordination of the Commissioner of Police.

As a preventive measure, OYOSUBEB ordered the immediate closure of all primary schools in neighbouring local government areas including Surulere, Oyo East, Oriire, and Olorunsogo, pending further security assessment and stabilisation of the affected axis.

Authorities appealed for calm among residents, urging the public to avoid spreading unverified information that could heighten tension in the area.

The Board also paid tribute to the deceased teacher, describing him as a dedicated educationist whose service to the state would be remembered, while reaffirming its commitment to the safety and protection of all schoolchildren in Oyo State.
