Highlighting the historical weight of the day, he referenced key global events associated with May 2, including the 2011 operation that reshaped global security conversations, the 1611 publication of the King James Version of the Bible which influenced faith and literature worldwide, and the 1933 surge in global fascination with the Loch Ness legend, an enduring symbol of human curiosity.
He also pointed to cultural and sporting milestones, including the 2015 “Fight of the Century” between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, as well as the observance of Israel’s Independence anniversary on May 2 in certain calendar years.

Turning his focus to Oyo State, Opatoki described his birthday as a moment of introspection and recommitment to service.

“Oyo deserves leadership that understands the urgency of now, leadership that builds on the foundation already laid by Seyi Makinde and places people at the heart of governance,” he said.
