The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rescheduled its presidential primary election earlier fixed for May 15 and 16, 2026, to May 23, 2026, while the governorship primaries will now hold on May 21, 2026, as part of a revised timetable for its 2027 general election activities.

The party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, announced the changes after the 186th National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held in Abuja on Thursday, noting that several key processes, including the screening of aspirants and appeal exercises, were also adjusted in the new schedule.

According to the revised timetable, the screening of aspirants originally slated for May 6 to May 8 has been moved, with presidential screening now fixed for May 9, 2026, alongside other categories including House of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate and governorship aspirants.

Meseko explained that the adjustments align with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999 as amended), the Electoral Act 2026, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable for the 2027 general elections, adding that sales of nomination forms will begin on April 25 and close on May 2, 2026.

He further disclosed that party primaries will now commence on May 15 with the House of Representatives, followed by Senate on May 18, State House of Assembly on May 20, governorship on May 21, and presidential primary on May 23, 2026, while maintaining that all aspirants remain free to contest under direct or consensus arrangements as provided by law.
