JUST IN: Four Kano Reps Defect from NNPP to ADC

Four members of the House of Representatives from Kano State have defected from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in a development that could alter the political balance in the state ahead of future elections.

The lawmakers who defected are Sani Wakili, representing Minjibir/Ungogo Federal Constituency; Muktar Zakari, representing Tarauni Federal Constituency; Umar Datti, representing Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam Federal Constituency; and Abdulhakeem Ado, who represents Wudil/Garko Federal Constituency.

Their defection was formally announced during plenary on Wednesday at the House of Representatives. Speaker Tajudeen Abbas read their letters of defection before members of the chamber, confirming their decision to join the ADC.

The latest defections mark another notable political shift in Kano State, where the NNPP has remained a major political force in recent years. The move is expected to trigger reactions within both parties and among political stakeholders in the state.
