2026: Kuso Reaffirms Commitment to Internal Democracy as Grassroots Support Swells in Ibarapa East

Chairmanship aspirant in Ibarapa East Local Government, Hon. Abdul Akeem Akintola, popularly known as Kuso, has reaffirmed his commitment to internal democracy while addressing public perceptions about his personality, as his consultation tour continues to attract strong grassroots backing.

Speaking during his engagements across Wards 7, 8, 9, 10, and later Wards 5 and 6, Kuso dismissed claims portraying him as stubborn or difficult, insisting that such views stem from misunderstanding of his firm principles.

“I am not a stubborn or wicked person as some people think,” he told party members. “I am simply a man of policy and ideas. I detest cheating and betrayal, and I stand on nothing but the truth. That is why some people misunderstand me.”

The aspirant further described himself as a God-fearing individual whose values often put him at odds with those he termed “bad elements,” adding that his fearlessness has been instrumental to his achievements over the years.

Kuso also used the opportunity to renew his call for a direct primary election within the party, rejecting any move toward consensus candidacy. He maintained that his track record, popularity, and grassroots connection position him strongly to emerge victorious in a transparent contest.

According to him, allowing party members to freely choose their candidate would strengthen democracy and prevent imposition.

“Let the will of the people prevail, not imposition or subjugation,” he said.

Earlier, his consultation tour kicked off in Ward 7 with a colourful reception marked by songs and dances.

The Ward Chairman, Adediji Olusola Abraham, praised Kuso’s philanthropic contributions, including borehole projects, solar installations, and educational support initiatives. He likened his generosity to that of the late former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, describing him jokingly as an “ATM” for the people.

Ward executives, including Vice Chairman Jamiu Adeniji, Youth Leader Raimi Razaz, and Woman Leader Olajide Kafilat, pledged their full support for his ambition.

At Ward 8, Chairman Adeoye Ademola and Secretary Abegunde Yemisi commended his consistency and engagement with the grassroots, assuring him of their backing.

In Ward 9, Chairman Adeleke Musibau Akinatola Abiodun and Secretary Kazeem Ismail described him as a dependable leader, while Woman Leader Olojede Latifat highlighted his support for women and pledged massive mobilization.

Ward 10 Chairman Sunday Abioye also lauded Kuso’s leadership qualities, noting his capacity to unite diverse interests within the local government.

The tour concluded in Wards 5 and 6, where Chairmen Olajire Oyediji and Hon. Adeseun Abimbola Oluwafemi praised his political maturity and commitment to development, assuring him of continued support.

Across the wards visited, Kuso’s message of transparency, courage, and principled leadership resonated with party members, further strengthening his position as a strong contender in the forthcoming chairmanship race.
