Sharafadeen Alli Declares 2027 Governorship Bid in Oyo, Pledges Inclusive Development, Grassroots Governance

Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli on Friday formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State, pledging a people-oriented administration anchored on inclusive development, security, and economic growth.

The declaration, held at the Yemetu Police Barracks in Ibadan, attracted a large gathering of political leaders, party members, traditional stakeholders, and supporters from across the state.

Alli said his decision followed wide consultations with stakeholders across political, traditional, and community structures in Oyo State.

He described his ambition as a “turning point” and a “call to service,” stressing that his aspiration was driven by responsibility rather than personal interest.

“This is about service, responsibility, and the future of the good people of Oyo State,” he said.

Outlining his vision, Alli pledged to prioritize key sectors including education, healthcare, security, infrastructure, and economic empowerment.

He expressed concern about the state of education, promising reforms aimed at improving standards and preparing young people for future opportunities.

On security, the senator said his administration would prioritize safety as a foundation for sustainable development, while also expanding access to quality healthcare across urban and rural communities.

He added that infrastructure development would focus on improving connectivity and driving economic activity across the state.

Alli also promised to empower traders, artisans, and small business owners, describing them as the backbone of the state’s economy, while committing to youth empowerment through entrepreneurship and digital innovation.

He further pledged agricultural revitalization through modern farming techniques and improved access to markets.

The senator, who represents Oyo South Senatorial District, referenced his extensive political experience, including his tenure as chairman of Ibadan North Local Government in 1991, as well as his service as Secretary to the State Government and Chief of Staff in previous administrations, saying these roles shaped his governance philosophy.

He emphasized transparency, accountability, and civil service reform, assuring workers and pensioners of improved welfare and timely payment of entitlements.

Alli also promised strong inclusion of women in governance and greater collaboration with traditional rulers and community leaders.

The event had in attendance several political figures, including former Deputy Governor Chief Iyiola Oladokun, Engr. Remi Oseni, Senator Yinus Akintunde, Senator Ayoade Adeseun, among others, who witnessed the formal declaration.
