It Is True That Olubadan Asked the Speaker to Join APC, Florence Ajimobi Wants the Governor Impeached — PDP PRO Michael Ogunsina
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State has raised fresh concerns over an alleged political plot targeting Governor Seyi Makinde, as tensions continue to build within the state’s political space.
Speaking in an interview this morning, the PDP State Public Relations Officer, Michael Ogunsina, claimed that there are deliberate efforts by influential figures to destabilize the current administration.
According to him, the Olubadan was said to have approached the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly with a request to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He further alleged that Florence Ajimobi is pushing for the impeachment of the governor.
These claims come amid an ongoing political stir in the state, where lawmakers have begun addressing reports of an impeachment plot following a crucial meeting held at the Governor’s House.
The meeting, attended by members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, was convened in response to growing speculation that certain individuals were working behind the scenes to create disunity between the legislative and executive arms of government.
In the aftermath of the meeting, several lawmakers have come forward to publicly clarify their positions. While some, including the Deputy Speaker, have denied any involvement in such a plot, others have remained silent, further fueling public curiosity.
One of the most notable responses came from the Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Gbenga Oyekola, who issued a detailed statement distancing himself from any actions capable of disrupting the peace of the state. He stated clearly that he was neither invited to nor aware of any impeachment arrangements.
According to his statement, discussions at the meeting also included revelations by the Speaker, who reportedly disclosed that he had been approached by certain prominent traditional and political figures regarding his political future. The Speaker, however, declined all such overtures, including alleged financial inducements.
Hon. Oyekola reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde, emphasizing his commitment to the administration and to maintaining unity and stability in Oyo State. He stressed that he would not be part of any move that could undermine the government.
Observers note that as more lawmakers speak out, there appears to be a growing effort among members of the Assembly to distance themselves from the controversy. At the same time, the silence of some lawmakers continues to raise questions about the depth of the alleged plot.
Political analysts believe the situation reflects underlying tensions within the state’s political structure, even as repeated declarations of support for Governor Makinde may be strengthening his position.
With additional lawmakers expected to address the issue in the coming days, attention remains firmly on the Oyo State House of Assembly as events continue to unfold in what is shaping up to be a major political development in the state.
