Osimhen to Return Ahead of Schedule, We Need to Destroy Gençlerbirliği & Fenerbahçe Says Coach Buruk
Victor Osimhen could make an earlier-than-expected return from injury, according to Okan Buruk, head coach of Galatasaray.
The Nigerian striker has been sidelined after sustaining an arm injury during a UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool last month.
While initial projections suggested he would return in time for the high-profile Intercontinental Derby against Fenerbahçe on 26 April, Buruk has now hinted at a possible earlier comeback.
“Osimhen has started running again. It will be difficult for him to return this weekend, but he could be included in the squad for the Gençlerbirliği match if conditions are right,” Buruk revealed.
He added that the club could also opt to hold him back fully for the Fenerbahçe encounter, depending on his recovery progress.
Galatasaray strengthened their grip on the Turkish Super Lig title race with a 3-1 victory over Göztepe on Wednesday, moving four points clear of both Fenerbahçe and Trabzonspor. The league leaders will next host Kocaelispor this weekend.
