Breaking: Oyo Government Crowns Senator Sarafadeen Alli, Two Other High Chiefs in Absentia At Coronation Ceremony in Ibadan
The Oyo State Government has conducted the coronation and presentation of Staff of Office to newly elevated crown-wearing Obas in Ibadanland, with the three High Chiefs officially crowned in absentia.
The ceremony, held today ,Friday, April 3, 2026, at the historic Mapo Hall, drew dignitaries from across the country, underscoring the significance of the event in the traditional and political landscape of the state.
Those elevated to Obaship include His Royal Highness, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland; His Royal Highness, Oba Oyekola Babalola, SAN, the Ekarun Olubadan of Ibadanland; and His Royal Highness, Oba Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli, the Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland.
Despite their absence at the venue, the coronation rites were carried out, marking a significant moment in the evolution of Ibadan’s traditional hierarchy.
The presentation of the Staff of Office in absentia was done by the Governor of Oyo State, engineer Seyi Makinde, represented by his deputy, Chief Bayo Lawal
