‎Oyo Government Announces Coronation, Presentation Of Staff Of Office To Crown-Wearing Obas In Ibadanland



‎The Oyo State Government has announced the coronation and presentation of the Staff of Office to newly elevated crown-wearing Obas in Ibadanland, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening traditional institutions and preserving cultural heritage.

‎The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, 3rd April 2026, at the historic Mapo Hall Grounds, Ibadan, beginning at 10:00 a.m., and is expected to attract dignitaries from across the country.

‎According to the government, three distinguished traditional rulers will be officially coronated on the said day which includes His Royal Highness, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin, the Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland; His Royal Highness, Oba Oyekola Babalola, SAN, the Ekarun Olubadan of Ibadanland; and His Royal Highness, Oba Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli, the Ekarun Balogun of Ibadanland.

‎The presentation of the Staff of Office by Governor Seyi Makinde formally endorses their elevation within the Ibadan traditional hierarchy, reflecting the evolving structure of leadership in the region.

‎According to the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the administration has installed 12 kings and over 40 Baales since 2019.

‎The government, through the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Honorable Demola Ojo, then reaffirmed its dedication to promoting unity, cultural pride, and inclusive development through collaboration with traditional authorities.
