‎Oyo Government Secures 32 Investors, Advances 12 Megawatts Electricity Project


‎The Oyo State Government said it has secured 32 investors to partner in the development of its electricity sector, as part of efforts to improve power supply across the state.

‎The Commissioner for Energy, Professor Daud Kehinde Sangodoyin, who also chairs the Oyo State Electricity Regulatory Commission, disclosed that the investors have indicated interest in electricity generation and distribution projects.

‎He noted that the government has outlined the necessary requirements for participation, adding that licenses will be issued to investors who meet the stipulated technical and financial conditions, subject to due approvals.

‎The commissioner further revealed that work is ongoing on a 12-megawatt electricity project under an Independent Power Project (IPP) arrangement, expected to be completed within the next 12 months.

‎He added that the Installation of transmission infrastructure is already underway in parts of the state.

‎According to him, the project is aimed at improving electricity supply through sustained expansion of power infrastructure, assuring that the government will continue to provide an enabling environment for private sector participation.
