Oyo Government Strengthens Agricultural Mechanization With Stakeholders’ Engagement on 50% Tractorization Policy
The Oyo State Government has engaged Mechanized Service Providers as part of efforts to enhance agricultural productivity and improve service delivery across the state.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, brought together the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye, alongside key stakeholders in the mechanization value chain.
Addressing participants, the Commissioner noted that the engagement was necessary to tackle operational challenges and strengthen collaboration for the effective implementation of the State Government’s 2026 target of achieving 50% tractorization.
On accountability, the Commissioner stressed that no tractor would be engaged without a functional tracking system, noting that this measure would guarantee proper monitoring and efficient service delivery.
He also warned service providers against any form of collusion or fraud, adding that a dedicated hotline would be introduced for complaints and reporting irregularities.
Speaking on behalf of the providers, Mr. Akinola James commended the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, noting that the tractorization policy has significantly boosted productivity as well as improved livelihoods, and thereby promised that the Mechanized Service Providers will cooperate with the government on the new policy.
