NBA Inaugurates Iseyin Branch to Strengthen Grassroots Justice Delivery

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has inaugurated its Iseyin branch in Oyo State as part of efforts to expand access to justice and strengthen legal services at the grassroots level.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held in Iseyin on Saturday, Salau Yekeen, chairman of the organising committee, described the development as “an exciting chapter in the life of the association.”

He noted that the new branch represents a historic milestone for the legal community in Iseyin and surrounding areas.

“The initiative is aimed at bringing the vision, values, and impact of the Nigerian Bar Association closer to the people, particularly those within the jurisdiction of the High Court of Justice, Iseyin Judicial Division,” Yekeen said.

He added that the move was driven by the growing demand for legal representation and the need for a stronger institutional presence in the area, as well as enhanced collaboration with other stakeholders.

“Beyond administrative expansion, the establishment of this branch will deepen engagement, foster collaboration, and provide a veritable platform for stakeholders in the administration of justice,” he added.

Olugbenga Bamgbose, chairman of the caretaker committee, also highlighted the significance of the new branch in promoting unity and responsiveness within the legal profession.

“It will provide a structured platform for lawyers in this axis to collaborate more effectively, address local legal challenges, and contribute meaningfully to justice delivery,” Bamgbose said.

The inauguration was attended by Afam Osigwe (SAN), president of the NBA; Abiodun Aikomo, attorney-general of Oyo State; Mobolaji Ojibara, NBA general secretary; Olukayode Ariwoola, former chief justice of Nigeria; and Iyabo Yerima, chief judge of Oyo State.

The event featured the laying of the foundation for the association’s permanent site and the commissioning of a 16-seater bus.
