Many Ibadan Residents Push Back on Government Daily Sanitation Plan, Cite Work Schedule Constraints
Following the Oyo State Government’s decision to replace the traditional Thursday environmental sanitation with a proposed daily clean-up culture, many residents of Ibadan have expressed disagreement, citing tight work and business schedules as a major challenge.
NewsRegister visited several parts of the metropolis to gather public opinion on the new approach and its practicality.
A significant number of respondents said they are not fully in support of the policy, explaining that daily sanitation may be difficult to sustain alongside demanding jobs, trading activities, and other daily responsibilities.
However, a smaller group of residents welcomed the initiative, describing it as a progressive move that encourages personal responsibility and reduces overreliance on a fixed sanitation day.
As Ibadan continues to grow, residents note that the success of the policy may depend on how well it aligns with the realities of daily life, alongside consistent efforts from both citizens and government authorities.
