‎Oyo Government Strengthens Migration Response with Capacity-Building Workshop for Reintegration Experts


‎The Oyo State Government, in collaboration with the National Commission for Refugees, Migration and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), has commenced a three-day capacity-building workshop for members of the Case Management Expert Team (CMET) under the Oyo State Reintegration Committee Framework.

‎The workshop, held at the State Secretariat in Ibadan, is designed to equip frontline case handlers with practical skills in ethical engagement, effective referral pathways, reintegration support, safeguarding, and data protection.

‎Speaking at the opening session of the workshop, the Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Migration and Homeland Security, Barrister Segun Adegoke, described the training as a strategic step toward addressing the complex dynamics of migration in the state.

‎He explained that the Reintegration Committee, established in July 2025, serves as a coordination platform for both state and non-state actors, working collaboratively to deliver structured return and reintegration services for migrants.

‎In his remarks to, the Southwest Zonal Coordinator of NCFRMI, Alex Oturu, noted that the commission set up the committee to strengthen protection mechanisms and provide comprehensive support for returnees in Oyo State.

‎He further highlighted that the committee brings together federal and state government agencies, civil society organisations, and other key stakeholders involved in migrant readmission and reintegration.

‎According to him, the workshop will significantly contribute to the state’s response to modern slavery and related challenges.
