5th Remembrance of Late Father: Ibadan Based political journalist, Shobowale Donates Cash to Orphanage in Ogun
Popular Ibadan based political journalist, Lekan Shobo Shobowale on Monday donated cash gift to an Orphanage home in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The donation was part of activities marking the 5th Remembrance anniversary of the passage of his father, Lt Col. Timothy Olawale Shobowale, who passed on February 16th, 2021.
Speaking briefly with the management of the home, Shobowale who was in tears all through his remark recalled the steong bond between him and his late father.
“I was on my way from Akure on the afternoon of February 16, 2021 when my younger sister Tope, asked me what happened to our Dad, but noticing i was yet to be informed of his passage, Tope hung the phone. My late dad Aunt whom I was also closed with later called me to broke the bad news of my Dad’s exit. It was a day i will never forget.
“I had a very strong bond with my Dad. He was a good man, very simple, humble, and hardworking.
“He thought me the pronciple of hardwork. He was not wealthy but was comfortable and provided for all the needs of his children. His life remains a great lesson to me, and each I remember, it is always tears of being grateful to him.
“God willing, next year, I’m going to launch a foundation in his name for indigent pupils where I will be given my token to them in Remembrance of my late Dad.
“I want to appreciate the caregivers in this home and assure you I will always be with you.”
Shobowale later visited the grave site of his late father and offered special prayer for the repose of the departed soul.
